Its the great wall! The drive there was hilarious
because our tour guide seemed to be on a commission for selling
Chinese wives to westerners. She said such things as "have you come
here for getting wives?" and "we have beautiful wives in China."'
We went to see the olympic soccer stadion from
2008. There are still posters advertising the games in lots of places,
including airports.
We were in China for a very small conference, which
the hosts put a surprising amount of effort into. Here is the
leather-bound program they gave us.
So I ordered a hamburger at a restaurant. Turns out that in
Barcelona the bread is considered optional.
Oh the joys of not speaking Spanish.
A wonderful opt-out service.
The airport in Barcelona was huge, beatiful and eerily empty.
Woo hoo! When going on a 12 hour flight, this is

.
The Japanese are very polite. E.g. they make sure that no one gets lost in the toilet.
I find warning labels that I cannot read to be
strangely disturbing.
In Japan, space is at a premium.
From my room. Sometimes vans would drive by with
loudspeakers delivering messages loud enough that I could hear them in my
room. Turns out this is a way to advertise political messages in
Fukuoka.
When I got to Seoul the hotel was very sorry to
inform me that they had over-booked the rooms (aw crap)... so they had
to give me an upgrade (yes!).
Your guess is as good as mine.
An interesting take on a salt and pepper set.
The conference dinner was elaborate.
They had quite a repertoire of classic Korean
entertainment.
Where can I get a hat like that? Turns out that in
Korea it is exceedingly rude to hand someone anything while using only
one hand, especially to someone older than yourself, which explains
the stares I got when I paid for my groceries.
I was quite impressed by ice statues until I realized
that you can make them by throwing a mold in the freezer.
I humbly suggest that they change name to "no woori bank".
Koreans are polite!
Have I got a quest for you!
Some things are the same all over.
The airport in Seoul. Coming home!
This is, I believe, the only publically accessible
power outlet in the entire Frankfurt international airport.
